LAN party first timer

Go to solution Solved by Tr3vor,

Ok thanks, that helps alot even though here in mexico roads are 80% bumps... so should i take out my HDDand put in somewhere like bubble wrap or something like that or is the HHD cage dafer that the bubble wrap?

The HDD will be fine as long as you don't drop the computer from like a foot high.

Hello gusy i kinda need your help with something that is actually pretty basic on a LAN party how do I transport my PC without harming anything at all the thing that i am most concerned about is the HDD because it is the only moving part it has (and well the fans and heatsink) so if you guys have any tip, trick, experience with this things i will appreciate it a lot!

Put it in your car and don't go over bumps very fast?  Kind of common sense.  PC parts are pretty robust.... Damn you AJ and Linus for making me start using that word...

I put mine on its side so the motherboard tray is down and the front of the PC is facing the front of the car. That way my hyper212 and 7970 don't strain the board too much while going over bumps.

Old shit no one cares about but me.

I honestly never thought about gpu's straining the board, and I take my PC to my girlfriends almost every weekend.

Put some cloths/other soft to sides of case. But monitor is what you should be more concerned about. Though my case and monitor survives several falls from top to side and one drop from maybe 30cm. Only thing that came apart was side fan which was tighten with rubber screws anyway.

Well the LAN party was over today and had no problem whatsoever, and i think that as long as you put the motherboard "touching" your car and don't drive like a maniac there is not much of a risk unless i guess you have a custom watercooled rig.

if you want to take care of your HDD just pull it off and put in on a safe place that you know your car is not going to jump very often

You really don't need to though. When powered off HDDs can handle somewhere up to like 4 or 5 Gs of force. Its when the drive is on is when you need to worry about it, I cringe every time I see someone move their case while the computer is on...
