[Xbox One] Cancerous dorm Wi-Fi

I can't use the ethernet and the Wi-Fi is laggy, not to mention the atrocious NAT. Anyone have any ideas? Are standalone hotspots still a thing? Using the one on my phone doesn't really help.

You can buy a cheap AC wifi router with an access point (or you can just buy an access point) and set up you're own wifi network that only you (and maybe you're roommates) use.

 

P.S.: that is exactly what I did and it worked like a dream. I found a Linksys Smart Router for $39.99 used and it is one of my best purchases.

I feel so bad for your neighbors... The interference from your router, if not set up correctly, will screw your neighbors.
