HI all, Im looking for some help when finding a laptop for use with a small amount of gaming and small to medium workstation applications like revit.

This are what i want in the laptop

- geforce nvidia 1050ti

- 16gb of ram

-fhd screen (1920x1080

- 2 hard drives (e.g 1 256gb ssd and 1tb hdd)

- battery life of at least 6 hours.

I'm not very tech savvy, so explain this stuff to me in simple terms! Also i would prefer not to go with a gaming themed laptop just because of how people would look at me while im using it at uni. Thank you very much!

If it fits your budget look at the Acer Predator Helios or Dell inspiron 7000 or Acer v15,...

Kind of depends on where you are from to here in Belgium most of these cost a lot more than in the USA for instance so if you want to cut the cost go for cheaper dell 7567 and just add a stick of 8gb ram or something like that :)

Dell's gaming line is very good value but the lower end models screen is sub-par with a quick response panel, unless thats what you want.

Their top end model is quite an attractive model and has a great IPS screen: http://www.dell.com/au/p/inspiron-15-7577-laptop/pd?oc=sma511071au&model_id=inspiron-15-7577-laptop

yeah i would go for this but im not sure if it could handle workstation apps?

I say it would, it has an i7 7700HQ, 4 cores, 8 threads. Plus a full size 1050. :) If you want, for a cheaper one, With a better GPU such as a 1060 and it has the same CPU plus an additional 1TB drive albeit it's 5400 (which isn't the fastest)

Would you happen to know how much battery life the 56w config of this laptop has? Mainly when doing mundane internet browsing/youtube videos(not at 4k)

same with the 96w config.

I'd say for light use, a good 5+ hours maybe more.

Really with this budget you should probably get a MacBook Pro.

Mind as well get all the luxury you could want and all the power you need.
