The 47230HQ has 4 physical cores (and is hyperthreaded) and turbos significantly higher (the 6300U is dual core-hyperthreaded). You can always add ram. If you're going to be traveling with it or using it on battery, the Dell should have better battery life and is probably a fair bit lighter as it doesn't need as much cooling hardware. The 960m probably won't be a viable card in a couple of years, but as you said, you have a gaming desktop.

You can get a new laptop with 8250U/8550U CPU, RAM and SSD can be added after purchase (depends on warranty policy)
