Keep getting the Blue Screen on Laptop

AlanAlan

After the "Spectre and Meltdown" my computers keeps getting the Blue Screen. I will be using my computer for 10 minutes and all of a sudden I would get the blue screen. I updated my computer with the new microsoft security update. Does anyone experience this problem? Is there a way for me to fix it?

Remove the antivirus and you are good to go.

There was an article I found today on DR. Windows, it was about why the update isn't rolling out to some machines with 3rd party anti virus.

The point here is that some of those scan engines are using the bug which the update fixes. So as soon as they try to hook into the system > bluescreen

Clean your laptop fans, remove bitdefender and install something like Avast or Panda instead. Or just uninstall the update until Microsoft get a clue as to what they're doing.

Well if there's a bug with bitdefender, it doesn't exist in windows defender or kaspersky (free version at least).

I just removed my Bitdefender AV today. I hope it solves the problem with the blue screens. Would Microsoft Defender be suffice for security?

The windows defender, in addition with a good ad/scriptblocker like adblock (not plus) and ublock will help...

But the most of all common sense is what gives the most protection =)

Yup. It's not going to protect you from anything serious. That's what adblockers and avoiding flash/javascript/clicking on links are for.

Windows Defender has regularly failed anti virus certification. Something like Panda Free Edition or Avast Free Edition, along with Malwarebytes Anti Malware, would be more effective.
