I know I bought a gtx 550 ti but I just wanted the 2 fans and it looks but it has a modded bios and it says its a gtx 960 how do I unistall that and make it say gtx 550 ti

Contact ebay and tell them it wasn;t a 960 they'll proably let you keep it and give you a refund

Also find out the make and model of the GPU and flash the BIOS

Defiantly contact ebay and get your money back but you can easily find a 550ti BIOS online and use NVflash to flash it

Are you certain it's a 550 Ti? I've seen what look like 9800 GTs, GTS 250, GTS 450 and GTX 550 Ti cards listed as 750 Tis, 960s and 970s.

 

The BIOS doesn't always stick in NVflash. RGinHD just did a video on trying to flash a "960" back to its original state as a 450, and the flash didn't take. If nothing else, just tell eBay that you noticed the card was performing badly so you looked it up online and found that it's not actually a 960, but instead a cheaper, lower-end part misrepresented as one. You'll get your money back, and you'll probably get to keep the card. I'm actually considering adding a few cheap cards to my collection this way, but $50-70 per card is one hell of a gamble if eBay decides that they've had enough of us tech-saavy buyers scamming all these poor Chinese scam sellers.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.
