6600k Lagging while Multitasking

So I currently own an i5 6600k, and it fantastic for gaming but when it comes to multitasking it just begins to lag. 

 

The multitasking could literally be just having chrome open to listen to music while playing a game (GTA V).

 

Current Specs:

  •  i5 6600k
  • 16GB DDR4 RAM (2133)
  • GTX 1060 (6GB)
  • 240GB SSD
  • 1TB HDD

Any ideas why I might be lagging? Thanks!

lags or stutters? how is the temperature and clock speeds?

I guess your CPU runs 100% or close to 100% and start stuttering.

Open task manager when you run your game and chrome and look at all usages.

You could try manually assigning GTA V in task manager to higer priority :) I do this with AC: Origins because I'm almost unable to freerun in a town otherwise.

I mean.... it is a 4 cores / 4 threads CPU only, all games can fully use at least 4 threads meaning the game alone can consume all of your CPU and you're left with no room for other applications... if you wanted to multitask a lot you should have gone with the i7 6700k
