x399 usb 3.1 gen2 header

x399 Designare has a usb 3.1 gen 2 header built into the board.  My case has 4 usb3 ports from 2 usb3 cables (2 each cable).  The designare has 1 standard usb3 header which is activating 2 of the usb3 ports on the case.  

To activate the other 2 USB3 ports, I bought this -

But, alas, it does not work.  I swapped the cables and verified the ports on the case work, and the conventional usb3 header on the board works, but either the 3.1 header is broke or not activated, or the cable I bought is bad.

Anyone using their USB 3.1 Gen2 port?  Did you need to update any drivers?  I went to Gigabytes site and updated everything, but no go on the header.
