New Ryzen APU's

Hello, I've never built a PC before and was never really into PC gaming, but I'm hoping to build my own this spring/summer. Anyway with the launch of the new R3 2200G and the R5 2400G is coming in February and I have a few questions. I was planning on getting a Ryzen 3 1200 for $109, but the new R3 2200G is shown to out perform the R3 1200 (according to AMD) at only $99 USD. Also having the better graphics (I wasn't planning on using the integrated graphics, but I guess it would be nice to have), wouldn't that just be the obvious choice?

Am I missing something?

AFAIK Ryzen APUs will use the first gen Zen cores whereas the the new CPUs coming out on April will use the better Zen+ cores. I can't think of any uses of the iGPU if you're going to get a discrete graphics card anyways save for testing.

Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3.9 Ghz  | Gigabyte AB350M Gaming 3 |  PaliT GTX 1050Ti  |  8gb Kingston HyperX Fury @ 2933 Mhz  |  Corsair CX550m  |  1 TB WD Blue HDD

Inside some old case I found lying around.

You get slightly less cache but yeah, I think for the most part it looks like a better deal.

Ryzen 2 is coming in April most likely with 10% or so higher clock speeds, so once it's out then that's when it'll make more sense.

The discrete graphics should be equivalent to at least a 1050 so for budget builds in 1080p go for it

you will get much better performance in 1080p gaming  with something like a Pentium G4560 + GTX 1050

If you can wait I say its worth it. If it doesn't pan out the Ryzen 1200 should drop price, or your going to be getting something better for less.

That has a 2 core CPU with mediocre upgrade space and it costs more.

IGPU would at best be as good as the best sub $100 gpu, like 1030. Which is good enough, if not the best igpu ever offered. 1050 is twice 1030.

slightly better like sandy bridge to ivy bridge. Lower temp, higher clock, but the core is still the same. April is 3 months away, who can wait that long. :D

You will get much better performance in 4k with something like a 8700k + GTX Titan V

Well I'm going to wait until at least April anyway to start buying parts. So I think I'll be choosing from R3 1st and 2nd gen or the R3 2200G. I'll just have to see what my budget is when I get there.

Eh I doubt it'd be that powerful. The 560 with GDDR5 and 1024 SPs matches up to a 1050; the 2200g's GPU only has 512 SPs and will have to use slower DDR4, so it'll be quite a bit slower for sure. I think it should match up to a GT 1030 though with decently fast RAM and when OCed
