Windows 8.1 Keeps Uninstalling Programs

Windows 8.1 keeps uninstalling programs I just installed. Sometimes it will delete the program files when the computer restarts and sometimes it will delete them almost immediately after the installation of the program. It will leave the shortcut on the desktop. When I click the desktop it will say it that the program files have been deleted and ask if i want to delete the shorcut as well? Is this a virus or windows 8.1 error? Please help. Thanks.

Doesn't sound normal, I think you should scan your pc with an antivirus, I recommend using malwarebytes, it often finds viruses that get past avg/avast/norton  etc.

I found another thread about a similiar problem:http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-1835359/program-installing-randomly.html  you might want to check your chrome extensions.

Doesn't sound normal.

 

And It is worth pointing out that Windows 8.1 is no longer covered by Mainstream Support. It is still supported under Extended Support but don't expect any updates or patches to it unless there are critical issues.

Yeah, with some like Kaspersky, it will just override your wants and do what it likes, forcing it's way, most anti-virus-like programs have an "exclusions" list, if you list your security programs, that would be great.
