1000$ 2018 pc build

Hi guys!

I've a nice computer that I actually made thanks to this forum.

The problem (or actually a good thing), a good friend of mine, wants to buy a pc around 1000$, I spoke to her and gave the same benefits that you guys told me that are better than buying a prebuilt, So, I'm back; looking for some advice for the best parts in that budget.

Also, she's also jealous about my computer with the rgb (Using Asus Aura and NZXT cam to kind of sync between them) which means that she would like to add rgb to it and if it is customizable it would be way better! (btw, no, I'm not planning in adding a kraken x62 to her build, it would be too expensive and its also money that could be spent wisely in other parts so, no.)

It seems hard to me because I don't have a lot of free time to spend looking thru guides and comparing parts but I'm here to see the recommendations from the experts ;)

I'll take the next 2 hours looking at some recommendations so feel free to suggest!

(1000$ usd)

Ok so I know this is just over, but I was barely able to fit the parts in a way that made RGB sense. The motherboard has Aura Sync and the RAM is RGB. There was no space for RGB fans with the 1070.

If you can budget / gift her some RGB fans, you have some options. I like the Bitfenix Spectre RGBs

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/kd66Mp/bitfenix-spectre-pro-rgb-120-562-cfm-120mm-fan-bff-srgb-12025n-rp

Tho the Masterfan Pro 120s look alright as well

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/WVQRsY/cooler-master-masterfan-pro-120-air-balance-rgb-427-cfm-120mm-fan-mfy-b2dn-13npc-r1

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

uses regular 4-pin RGB connectors, has an adaptor included so you just plug it in to the mobo's RGB header.

This one looks just great!

But i've a problem

do you think that I can change that amd to a Intel Core i5-8400? isn't a big price range but I'm thinking in the heat problems that the amd had in the past or it is just fine?

also, don't worry about the case, I'm planning in buying it for her :)

AMD's heat problems are gone with the last generation, and good riddance. These new AMD CPUs are both cool and competitive.

I would grab herman's build because it squishes in a GTX 1070. The RGB case will fill her needs methinks, and you can add the RGB RAM I linked if you want even more

it's a thing of the past, the 1600 isn't that hot and the wraith stock cooler is very quiet, and cools well enough for a mild oc.

Alright, forget I ever doubted you

My only problem with the Masterbox Lite 5 is that it looks like it's got abysmal airflow. Closed off front panel and all. The Masterbox 5 has a mesh front and is one of my favorite cheap cases of all time.

I'll take both of yours lists and gave her some surprises!

Thanks to @herman mcpootis and to you @Energycore for the lists!

I'm more than happy with it, I'm going to save them

also, I asked a friend about amd heat problems and he said that they are in fact gone with the last gen but there's another problem that prevents the cpu to work in a stable way which means that they have to disable at least 8 cores (presumpltly 16 cant work aren't stable) in order to work properly, is that actually true?

That's how I was with the Hynix SL308 (it trailed the 850 EVO a bit still). Back then people were high on the Kingston V300, you know the one that got its NAND sneakily replaced by old bad stuff. Glad that thing's gone forever.
