Hello everyone.

Since I got my new PC, I had had problems with GPU usage causing below expected FPS. For example, Rainbow Six Siege runs 100 FPS on ultra with 2x TXAA (95 to 99% GPU usage) and on all low the same amount of frames (below 60% GPU usage). I've set my NVIDIA CP to max performance and didn't change a bit.

PC specs:

I7 7700 (75 C° max)

Zotac 1070 mini (65 C° max)

8GB 2400Mhz RAM (Single Channel)

60Hz TV

Hope you guys have a great day. :)

CPU/RAM limitation most likely, adding another DIMM would help. That said, I don't really understand what the issue is if you're getting 100FPS on all ultra.

I agree with the ram suggestion single channel ram can actually be a bottleneck now a days at higher frame rates.

Are you using an adaptive sync monitor? G-sync or Freesync will cap your FPS.

Is V-Sync turned on (both in game or control panel)? As Vsync will cap your FPS.

Might also be that the game just wants to run at that framerate despite the quality. But odds are something is causing it to cap. Some say the RAM could be, but unless you're utilizing 100% of the allocated RAM and its going into Pagefile, there really shouldn't be any kind of reduction in framerate.

Needless to say, you don't need your FPS to run higher than your monitor's refresh rate anyway, otherwise you'll start tearing the screen anyway. If you're just wanting to benchmark, use something else.

Test more games than just R6S to make sure it's not a software issue.

Same goes for Arma 3 and Watch Dogs. I reinstalled Windows 10, installed only Steam, CUE, Origin, Uplay and few games, still the same. A 144Hz would solve the problem?

All kinds of sync are off. Not using all RAM. It's totally fine with my 60Hz TV, but I will buy a 144Hz screen, that is why I worry about this.

I tested Watch Dogs and Arma 3.

I don't know about Watch Dogs, but Arma is a horrible game to test. It's far too CPU bound.

Test using Unigine Heaven or Superposition. Also, no, a 144hz display won't help. Odds are you're CPU bound in the games you're testing. You'll need to find a game that's not notoriously CPU bound.

Those are my Steam games, would you recommend one to test? I also have BF4 and BF3.

Witcher 3 would be your best bet. It's the most GPU intensive without much to hit the CPU.

Sorry for the stupid questions, but... Should I test it on what configurations? All low? I can play on ultra at 55-70 FPS.

If you believe there to be an issue with your GPU, then run at the highest settings possible. What you want is 99% GPU usage. The lower your settings, the more CPU bound you become. When you become CPU bound, the GPU has to wait for the CPU, causing a drop in usage and a cap in FPS.
