I scored an ASUS 1070 8GB STRIX for $459CAD (before tax) at essentially a liquidation-type place. They had 5 brand new posted to their site, so even though I was more than content with my 1060 SC 3GB, it seemed like a deal that was too good to pass up. Other than it being brand new, it did have a slight dent on the box so I was a little apprehensive about whether I'd have to RMA it or not. Outside of the small dent, the box was sealed and upon inspection of the card, nothing seemed untoward about it.

My question is, what kinds of tests should I run to make sure it's more or less functioning as expected? Would Furmark and Heaven be enough? I ran it through Heaven already and it topped out at about 83 degrees at its hottest. And this is in a Node 202. Also, what FPS should I be expecting with a i5-4670 / 16GB of RAM?

Thanks in advance for the responses.

Take off the side panel to allow better airflow, then measure the temp under stress again. It's a bit hot.

If it works it works, I wouldn't worry about a dent in the box at all, graphics cards are usually packed between several inches of open cell foam. Furmark is a waste of time and has been for years as the driver detects it's running and downclocks the card. If you can pass a couple of hours of Unigine Heaven, it runs games fine, and the fans aren't making any weird noises, it's probably fine.

Honestly with that tiny case and an open air cooler you're basically going to be running at 83 degrees and thermal throttling no matter what do you. That's expected. You could pop the side panel off to increase air flow, but other than that it's just the nature of HTPCs and open air coolers.

Main System: EVGA GTX 1080 SC, i7 8700, 16GB DDR4 Corsair LPX 3000mhz CL15, Asus Z370 Prime A, Noctua NH D15, EVGA GQ 650W, Fractal Design Define R5, 2TB Seagate Barracuda, 500gb Samsung 850 Evo
Secondary System: EVGA GTX 780ti SC, i5 3570k @ 4.5ghz, 16gb DDR3 1600mhz, MSI Z77 G43, Noctua NH D15, EVGA GQ 650W, Fractal Design Define R4, 3TB WD Caviar Blue, 250gb Samsung 850 Evo

I threw a fan I had lying around underneath the card and ran it through Heaven again and this time, it didn't go above 71. I'm going to research some good 120mm PWM fans to make use of the pins on the card itself.

There's technically space for two 120mm fans under the graphics card, but due to cables, I can probably only do one, but I will try and be creative about it.
