I am having some problems finding a hard drive wiping program that can be done through usb boot. I tried dban but there was a problem to were it wouldn't work unless I disable secure boot. I would disable secure boot but I don't have an extra usb to save the keys and put them back in. I was wondering if anyone knew of an alternative that would work without disabling secure boot and still effectively wipe the disk.

Thanks!

Secure boot should only apply to the boot drive.

Are you trying to wipe and reinstall windows?

If that is the case i would recommend going into the windows installer via usb boot and formatting the drive there.

If you plan on formatting the drive and use it for another OS or simply storage, you shoudnt need to save the keys.

I'm just returning a faulty hard drive that I got a replacement for and I cloned on it earlier so I wanted to get rid of all the data effectively.

I think you can actually wipe hard drives through CCleaner. They have a utility that just writes a bunch of zeros to the drive, sort of like DBAN.

I wasn't aware that CCleaner could do that. If I can't find a way to wipe my hard drive through usb then Ill connect my old failing hard drive along side it and download CCleaner on it and try and wipe that way. I'm not sure if the old hard drive will hold up but if its the only other option it will work just fine. Thanks!
