New GPU won't display on monitor

I have recently switched out my GTX 760 for a Palit GTX 1060 3gb but when I switch my PC on it says no display on the monitor, the orange light shows and then turns to green but still displays a black screen.

I had to plug my new GPU into the bottom pciex16 slot, as for some reason it wouldn't click into place properly in the top pciex16 slot where my last GPU was.

I have uninstalled all the driver's from my old GPU and disabled the Intel on board graphics through device manager. I have reinstalled the ram, removed the CMOS battery and made sure everything is plugged in correctly but nothing works. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Clear cmos, reseat card.

If you have speakers, turn them on and see if its reaching windows or if the pc is waiting at an f1 screen or showing an error.

Yeah I have tried reseating several times. The monitor shows no display,  the green light comes on and HDMI 1/MHL text shows on screen then it goes black. I can't hear any sound.

So did you cycle through the inputs on the monitor? Tried another cable? Is it getting to windows or not?

I've cycled through the inputs on monitor tried another HDMI and it isn't getting to windows. My onboard graphics and my old GTX 760 both boot fine, and the gtx760 works in both pcie slots

Okay I will try doing that. I only have HDMI cables, why what would be better than HDMI?

Display port, dvi. Anything that isn't limited to 60 frames. I assume you don't have a monitor that supports hdmi 1.2 having a gtx 1060 in the system.

I tried safe boot and still no luck. Is it most likely a faulty gpu then? It's just weird, as the fans are working perfectly, there's just no display

Idk, put them both in and see what the device manager sees and do a clean install of the drivers too.

Okay I plugged them both in and the GTX 1060 is listed in the device manager, so the PC is recognising it, but won't let it display anything when I try it on it's own. Any suggestions??

Does it see it and list it as activated, or under properties it say "This device is working properly."?

Next step would be doing a clean install of the drivers while both are in and just unplug the hdmi while its running and plug it in the other card.

Id also get ahold of a dvi cable if your monitor supports it and give that a try.

I went into the 1060 properties in device manager and it says "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)" The 760 is working properly.

You don't have a second monitor do you?

Do a clean install of the drivers. You have to select the box for it, perform clean install.

I have the same issue every once in a while where my second card disappeared and had to do this. Had both of them do it before and had to put one of them in the very last pci slot and for it to recognize them properly. After that it was fine.

No I don't have a second monitor. Okay I will install DDU and do this now. Do I have to clean install the driver's for both cards or just my new one?

I uninstalled all driver's for GTX 760 then went into safe boot and installed the latest driver for the 1060, it completed installation then restarted the PC. I tried using the card on it's own and same problem.

About 2 years, the power supply shouldn't be a problem, as it is working for the 760
