Office 2010 works in Windows 8. However... some people, have the shadow effect and glow effect on the "File" Button broken.

Like so: http://pics.bbzzdd.com/users/ViRGE/Word2010_Win8.png

I am not sure what causes the problem for some, but I think it's the 64-bit version of Office 2010 that has this bug.

I use Office 2010 and Office 2013 on Win8 machines both in 64 bit version 2010 is stable no issues, as a heavy users of excel and access Office 2013 was having some issues with OBDC connections, but they released stability patches for it about 3 weeks ago if I recall correctly and I have not had issue with it after that patch.

We can build it, we have the technology!

Thank you for all the replies.

On dell.com office 2013 is only £82. where as on amazon 2010 it £86 so I suppose I could get 2013

Next question what file format is 2013 as my school has 2010 and i would like to be able to open 2010 files.

Are you sure that you are looking at the right item for Office 2013 on Dell site.. 'cause I don't see anything at that price. Can you post a link?

Office 2013 uses DocX file format, the exact same one as Office 2007 and 2010. Nothing has changed.

Formatting will not break when switching between version unlike the old DOC file, as it was smartly done this time around. What will break is if you use new features of Office 2013 and open it in 2010 or 2007 for example.

And yes, Office 2013 can open old DOC files.

Fun fact: Office 2013 can also open and edit PDF files :) I don't know how good it is at reading them, as I don't have Office 2013, but good to know you don't have to purchase the completely over prices Acrobat Writer to edit a PDF with an extremely limited editor.

Nothing was changed from 2007 to 2010. You mean 2003 to 2007.
