i live with my uncle's house and i have ethernet on my pc now because i moved the router from the living to my bedroom. but now he has no connection to his basement so he wants the box  back tomorrow to the living room.  so that means im getting no ethernet connection no more which make me very aggravated because im going to have a bad hit reg back again in games like before. what's my options here? i tried once to put a cable to the living room and it was awful the cable was in the middle and it looked ugly. what's my options in here?

that seems a reasonable solution. iv been looking for powerline adapters from a while to be honest and while doing my research it got very confusing because there's thousands of choices do you have experience/idea which one is the right one to buy?

Or you could buy another router, connect it to the old one. Basically using it as a relay

relay means connecting a router to another router, so the signal can reach further distances. Or else you can connect a new router to the modem itself, only to have it in your room while the old one sits in any position that gives the best coverage for the rest of the house

buy another router (my solution) or use power-line (the solution I use for my bro) Both will work but the 2nd router will be more versatile in what you can do with it in the future

All ya gotta do here is:

  1. Buy another router
  2. Decide whether you will run a cable or use ethernet over powerline
  3. Configure the new router with a set IP that's not in use (like 192.168.1.90) and disable DHCP on the new router
  4. Link the two routers together with cables
  5. Boom. The two routers should talk together and be part of the same network.

Ah. I see. Something like this may be more your style. This nifty little box has EoP built in that goes to the repeater. So repeater and EoP all rolled into one device.

it looks a solid device from net gear but i noticed there's 2 versions of this device on amazon one is wireless and the other is wired. what's the difference the wired version is cheaper.
