Hi guys, looking for some suggestions on a new monitor for gaming. I'm looking for something that will have some longevity (my current monitor is over 10 years old). I mostly play RPGs, but also play some FPS.

I've narrowed down my search to these two monitors right now (though am open to suggestions for others). The first is the ASUS PB277Q 27" (found here: https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16824236721), and the second is the Acer XG270HU 27" (found here: https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009769&cm_re=acer_xg270hu-_-24-009-769-_-Product).

On the surface, the specs are pretty similar, with the only obvious difference being the refresh rate. I haven't been able to find any concrete performance reviews though, so response time(input lag?)/ghosting/motion blur are still unknowns to me.

Your thoughts are much appreciated!

Both monitors will be really good. Basically, as long as you get a decent panel from a decent manufacturer, a monitor is a monitor. Comparing two 27", 144Hz, 1440p TN monitors, one from Acer and one from Asus, at similar price points, will end up being an almost identical monitor. Without knowing your computer specs, it's hard to recommend something, but I would go ahead and check out the ASUS PB Series PB278Q, which is the one from the top link with an IPS panel. In temps of response time, anything under 8ms or so will be perfectly serviceable to basically anyone.

Yes, IPS is worth it. I have a PB278Q for a few years now, it's amazing. This Boxing Day I purchased the asus MG28UQ 4k TN I tried to give myself the benefit of the doubt that just maybe it might be good. As soon as I put it beside my IPS... I just had to return it.

Thanks! Price-wise I'm leaning towards the asus pb277q...

Unimaginative Name, do you really think the IPS panel is worth the 150 price jump?

I would never go back to TN tbh
The benefits of IPS are so worth it the extra money, you won't regret it
