I lost all my possessions after an unfortunate set of events, and I left Houston where I was currently living and headed to Florida to stay with my brother while I got back on my feet. This was my starting point, the only things I brought with me were things I could fit in a bookbag that fits in an overhead compartment on a Greyhound. My brother gave me an HP chromebook (which is amazing and I love) and my first purchase was the desk and chair. I also purchased some RGB strips because everyone knows RGB cures sadness. rgblaptop.mp4

Yay! After doing a good amount of research, which admittedly could have been a little better... my parts arrived. I ordered some things I don't totally plan on keeping because my brother also enjoys PC building, and I wanted us to have a Christmas activity together so if it had 2-day shipping, it was ordered!

I ordered Mini-ITX because I like how it looks in a case with clean cable management, love on-board WiFi and Bluetooth, and it was a solid motherboard (with RGB.) Sorry for the pixelated image, I was trying to get the Ryzen to stand out... (because RYZEN.)

All setup and built in the temporary Rosewill case. My theme is going to be orange, so I absolutely hate the blue stock LED case fan. Also the back fan isn't plugged in, I was trying to figure out if any decent cable management is possible with this case.

Added a picture of the motherboard with CPU sat, and the build in my cheap Rosewill case. Also, it turns out I wasn't thinking when I ordered an SF PSU and forgot to order the SFX->ATX mount which is on the way. I'm pretty much decided on the be quiet! Pure Base 600 in orange for the case, since it's absolutely perfect for my theme and build.

Just wanted to clarify if anyone is wondering, there are two reasons why some parts might be mismatched or not make sense bottleneck wise. I'm on an extremely tight budget, kinda rebuilding everything from the ground up in my life outside of my PC... and saving up for college next semester. And more importantly, I started this sorta haphazardly without really knowing which direction I wanted to go. (literally didn't even know what size case and mboard I was sold on.) I'm just now really understanding the direction I want to go. Also, I didn't want to post without including a picture.. so here's my box shelf!

  1. Okay... so, wow. SO much has changed in the past month. I edited the OP with a picture of how my system currently stands. I changed A TON, including the "name" I gave both this post, and the computer. I chose to name it Shutter. I used this name because it's part of my instagram username (@stevenshutter) and the way a shutter opens and closes is sort of the way I went about this build. I opened my eyes to certain ideas and options, closed 'em, then reopened them to other stuff!

This, is Shutter! Complete with Cablemod red cables, a new GTX1050Ti, Meshify C case from Fractal Designs, and an ASRock motherboard all custom built with some of my current favorite peripherals.
