Gamming Rig Help

mregm

This is what I have in my newegg cart. I'm planning to build a $2000 gaming rig(before tax). I'd like some feedback on where I could maybe save a bit of money or recommendations on something you'd change. For now, I think I can do without an ssd I'll purchase those a bit down the line but if you have any recommendations for a good case that would be great. any suggestions for lower prices on other sites would also help. I'm not restricted to just newegg.

Thanks for the feedback guys. This is what I came up with. Do you guys have any suggestions for a case.

Swap the memory for:

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820232394

or

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820232476

I would highly suggest an SSD as well to save from having to do a re-install of windows down the line.

Its more then he needs but both coffelake and that 1080ti have a pretty big draw if he he decides to overclock them, also leaves room for upgrades.

I would rather agree on what we share, than fight on what we don't. - Myself

Power supply is overkill, get a 650w unit for much cheaper

Consider a hybrid water cooled 1080 ti

that motherboard is overpriced and dumb, get one at the 120$ pricepoint

doesnt really matter , but get 2666 mhz ram

dont buy windows full price, get it for 5$ on ebay

get an ssd, maybe an 850 evo 500gb

EDIT: also change the aio with a h100i v2 from corsair

550-650W would still be plenty for that

:)

Oh 100%, like I said more then he needs, but if he adds a second GPU (Which obviously 0 point in doing, sli and xfire (Sorry MGPU) support is diminishing anyways) or perhaps more fans etc then having a little extra is nice. Although is that on sale right now?

8700k has to have a z370 motherboard, z270 won't work.

get 2666 mhz ram and save yourself some money

get the evga sc2 hybrid, its the same thing basically and cheape

as for a case, the NZXT s340 is a popular option and is good

I changed the motherboard to an

MSI Z370 SLI PLUS LGA 1151 (300 Series) Intel Z370 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX Intel Motherboard

and I was able to find and evgasc2 hybrid for $800

looks like I'm all set.

Thanks for the support man. I appreciate it

I don't think you can use the EVGA kit with the MSI card you have in your list. IIRC it's meant as more of an upgrade kit for other EVGA cards. I'd also get a better PSU than you have listed. Something like a G2/G3. Check out the PSU Tier list and grab something from the first tier. As others have said you can't use the 8700k with Z270.

Also.....it's gaming. One M.

Welcome to the forum :)

Haha, that's quite a bit of overhead ;)

Eh, the more expensive boards do have some nice options, and they tend to look better. Some people care about aesthetics ;) Buying Windows for $5 is stupid. If you want a legit copy, pay full price. If you buy it for $5 you have absolutely no right to complain about anything Windows related.
