Sound card help.

Go to solution Solved by Sheldon_King,

Because the headsets don't need the amps (as I understand it, ATH-M50 should be 32Ohm), and teh quality of audio will not increase a bunch. The only real reason to go for a sound card is if you need features it has that the onboard does not have, or if you don't want to use an external amp for high impedance headphones. The quality difference is just not there. (Don't get me wrong, I use a low end PCIe soundcard, but only because my onboard is nonfunctional).

I  am looking for a sound card. Don't really wanna spend over 40$ And it can only be PCI-Express. Because my shitty mother board doesn't have just a PCI slot. Let me know what you think.

Couldn't you use the DGX instead? And you are not going to hear a difference unless your onboard is nonfunctional.

Noticing that you have a corsair 2000 in your signature, I can tell you that you don't need one.

Do you not see my other headset... And i am asking what to get...

The M50 won't need one either.

Yes, and the recommendation is still not to get anything, Sound cards are notorious for high output impedance's which upsets the FR,  you should get better sound if not the same from your onboard.

So what do you recommend just a headphone amp?

You don't need an amp. At all. Your headset is 32 ohm. If you had 300Ohm or the like you would need one.

Maybe i got money to waste...

DGx is a good low end unit, but you will not hear a difference between it and the onboard.

I have an asus H77 board, the onboard is fine for my 64Ohm headphones, and the SQ has been just as good as any sound card I have listened to.  If you have money to burn I'd either get another set of headphones or an O2/Odac.  neither are necessary but both are nice.
