Is this PC good enough to play at 1080p 144hz at high or medium settings?

The pc I am planning will have:

CPU: Core i5 8600k(OC)

Cooler: Cryorig h5 ultimate

Motherboard: Gigabyte - Z370 AORUS Ultra gaming (rev 1.0)

RAM: Team- Dark 16gb (2 x 8gb) DDR4-3000

Storage: Samsung 850 pro series 256gb 2.5 ssd

Western digital - vaviar blue 1tb 3.5 72000rpm internal Hard Drive

Video card: Zotac - Geforce GTX 1060 6GB AMP! Edition Video card

Case: Fractal Design - Meshify C atx mid tower case

Power supply: EVGA - B3 450W 80+ BRONZE CETIFIED Fully-Modular Atx Power supply

Wifi card: Gigabyte - GC-WB867D-I PCI-EXPRESS x1 802.11a/d/g/n/ac Wifi adapter(I do not have ethernet)

3 Noctua - NF-12 pwm fans 120mm for intake

1 Noctua - NF-S12A pwm fans 120 for exhaust

Monitor: Acer - GN246HL 24.0 1920X1080 144HZ Monitor

They are compatible and I have checked I just need to know if this is like over kill or maybe it needs a bit more power for new AAA games in the next 2-3 years and I will change the gtx 1060 out for the gtx 2060 if it comes out in time.

This PC should get some pretty decent frame rates at 1440p with medium settings in most games. However, I do have some questions/suggestions about this build.

1. Why are you using a Z370 Mobo with a locked chip? Unless you're doing SLI, it's not really worth the price.

2. You've probably heard this already, but this build would honestly be cheaper, with about the same performance if you went with a Ryzen chip. If you live somewhere near a micro center, you can pick up an 8 core Ryzen 7 1700x for $239.99, giving you 2 extra cores, for a lower price.

Had a custom pc, but I traded it for a Razer Blade 15 with a RTX 2070

i'd drop it down to a ryzen 1600, remove the fans and use the stock cooler and get a cheaper ssd, use the money on a 1070/ti instead. the 1060 isn't well suited for 144hz. also the B3 has issues with overpower protection, get a corsair CX instead.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

Btw ( most important thing ) don't EVER buy a ryzen cpu for 1080p gaming. For 1080p gaming the cpu speeds are very important and AMD always falls behind, ryzen cpus are only good for 4k gaming where the load goes to the gpu and you are gpu limited.

For your first point what do you mean? I am still quite new to this, and for your second point I would like to squeeze as much performance from my cpu as possible and I saw that ryzen has come problems that for a beginner I would not like to deal with.

Which power supply are you realting to and can you send me the link on where to buy? Also as another poster has pointed out ryzen is not powerful enough for 1080p high fps gaming, for the graphics card I will check it again when volta comes out as this built is for april 2018 ish and likely I can upgrade to 1070 or volta equilavent if I can extend my budget.

the 1600 will still play at 144hz, a coffeelake i5 will perform better but the 1600 will still work. if you can fit a 1070ti and 8400 into your budget then do that.

For my first point, i just realized you meant the i5 8600k, which is unlocked. That means you can overclock the chip. And sense you're a beginner, who might not know how to overclock, you can easily get a core i5 6400, and a cheaper motherboard. And to your response on my second point, any problem with ryzen you may have heard of, has sense been fixed, so no need to worry there.

All in all, you if you don't want to overclock, and you don't want to run 2 graphics cards in your system, this build would be great for you.

I would ask can I changed the cooler out for a cryorig h7 or keep the h5 ultimate and how many fan headers does the motherboard have? Because I would still want to add some extra fans.

1. Yes, those coolers work.

2. I'm not sure how many fan headers it has, but you can always use fan y splitters, or a fan controller.

On pc part picker they said that Intel core i5 8400 is at $209 so that or ryzen 5, also if I do go with 8400 pc part picker says that my motherboard m.2 slot  shares bandwidth with a sata 6.0 gb/s port and it says that when I use the m.2 slot the sata 6gb/s port is disabled. Should I be worried?

Change the 1600x to a 1600, which is closer to $200. And yeah, that's a bit of a problem, because PCIe based NVME storage won't work with that board

So go 1600x and overclock to try to get as near as core i5 8600k as possible and keep the stock 2 case fan and just add 2 more fans to populate all of the fans?

I don’t exactly have a budget but I would say when I have everything it should be less then $1800, add $100 to that because I have to use an external site to ship it to me as I am in southeast asia

A 1080 is probably overkill, but it's worth the extra price. And any Ryzen chip will work with this, so yes, the 1600x works
