Would You Have Done The Same?

MPX309

He's an idiot if he doesn't understand why you shouldn't put AIR FLOW fans on something where you need STATIC PRESSURE.

if he doesn't overclock too much or even a standard overclock won't make a difference, this is nitpicking no matter what you say.

from a performance standpoint I agree with you all. but it is still nitpicking for your specific case in mind.

I see where your friend is coming from.  If I did all that work on a custom water-cooled system and the first thing I was asked was "why didn't you use product X instead of product Y" then that'd be a bit off-putting.

Sure, it's a valid question, and I would ask it, but I'd be sure to offer ample compliments as well.  It's a stellar build regardless.

I don't know him, he's got a YT channel user name Meade916, check it out, does some awesome stuff on cars, and he's obviously very clued up on anything electrical, I just found the fan choice slightly odd considering how clued up he is, that's all.

Perhaps he fully understands, and he just doesn't care about 2 less degrees...

@MPX309 His rig is very good and you may want to see this as a reference.

Judging by the fact you created an entire topic because someone whom you've never met is using fans you wouldn't, I would also say you're nit-picking.

So this guy called Meade, does car audio, he's really good at it, posts a build, and I asked about why he used AF fans on a rad? and he basically responded with the fact I'm nitpicking, and there's always someone who has something to say"

But surely it's a valid question most people would ask?

We don't really understand the true context of the situation, I am sure there is more to it, possible enough to justify the nitpicking comment but we can only go by the OP, which is the given scenario of the thread.

Its not unreasonable to ask him why he chose to go with product x given product y. So asking about a build and specifically why the person used fans optimized for airflow on his rad, is totally a legitimately non-nitpicky question. How you ask or insisting or criticizing it would change that.

I think that the build based on the pictures is quite good, and it seems he put some time and care into it. I am not that nitpicky about the build, but if I had noticed that he had used AF fans, I might have asked about it.

Are you sure they were AF? they look the same as SP from corsair to me. Although it clearly states you talked to him about it and he didn't deny they weren't. And I suppose you saw pics of the packaging and a material list as well.

Anyhow he's basically an idiot :/

Yeah there's only 7 blades on an sp fan

he's not an idiot really, I can see why he got upset, I think he took what I said the wrong way, but the inquisitive side of me had to peak the question

I would say he would be in specifics to this subject. That's my opinion on it atleast. Buying the wrong thing or for a price too high just because they didn't do their due diligence
