Used Cards?

So, just wondering. Should i buy a used card? is it worth it? will it generally perform great and last long? Does this all depend on how used and from whom i purchase it? Just looking for insight into this matter. Considering getting a used GPU but dont want to blow off $300 + on something that wont last me 7 months atleast or perform worse or +anything like that

Used GPU's are pretty unreliable. Nowadays, most of the used market consists of GPU's that were used for cryptocurrency mining. So the card you get depends on how well the owner treated the card. If it wasn't overclocked so high, and the temps remained low, it's not a bad deal. But you never really know what a used card been through, so there's always a risk. If you can get the seller to send you some verified benchmarks which are consistent with other cards of the same make and model, I'd go for a used.

$300 is more than enough for a GTX 980ti. That card will last at least 3 years, likely more at 1080p 60fps since its performance is close to a 1070.

Only the lower power draw ones. No one would mine with an R9 Fury, just not profitable.

I wouldn't buy used cards for cards that are usually mined with. Don't buy used AMD anything, or 1070's. Stuff like 980 ti's should be fine though. You can get a 980ti for like $300 and it'll perform identically to a GTX 1070, where the new 1070's are going for like $450 right now.

Found plenty of 980ti in ebay below that price. Dont get those sponsored deals cheaper than $200 though, they are Chinese scums scamming people.

Yeah anything polaris or hawaii, or GTX 1070's. Those are mining cards.

GPU's are built to last, i usually buy slightly used card and its always worth it.
