OK, so first of all I know that this question has been asked a million times but I'm asking anyway.  I would like to push the limits of my 8700k.  I already know that I can get the OC that I want with 1.425 volts.  My temps idle around 35-37 C at that voltage, but they jump to 60 C almost instantly when I do anything CPU bound (like click on the Start Menu).  If I run a stress test then I reach around 70 C, but haven't seen it go past 80 C.  My main concern is that the temps go instantly from 35 C to 60 C.  Is that safe?  Now about that voltage, I see that on the Silicon Lottery website they quote stable OCs using about that much.  So, does that mean that I should be OK as long as temps don't pass 80 C?  Has anyone run a fixed voltage that high for a daily driver computer (gaming, too)?

Dont mind that jump in temperature.

As for voltage, better keep it on or below 1.35V when you got past 70C. You can push 1.4V if you can keep temps under that. Dont go as high as silicon lottery website, they arent meant for long term use

Define long term use.  I don't plan on keeping it longer than 5 years.  I am pretty much staying around 70 C at that voltage.  The next step down for me is 1.375 volts.  At that voltage I don't go past 60 C, but I'd really like to go with 1.425 if I can.  I'm hoping that someone that has run with such a high voltage for a prolonged period could chime in.

1.4 will degrade ur cpu within the first 2 years, so if it runs 5.1 now, it'd be running at 5.0 in 2 years. iat the end of the 5 years ud be seeing 4.7-4.8ghz if your chip doesn't just die by then.

I'm pushing 1.4v thru my 8600k just to see how long it lasts, expecting it to die and replace it with 8700k or next gen in the future, keeping my 8700k at 1.35v
