Relationship between voltage and temperature limit?

You mean power? You have the choice to unlink them. 

 

Its cause and effect, more power equals more heat. Thus it assumes your ok with having more with the other.

yes, i meant power limit. sorry about that. So the temperature limit just raises the maximum temperature before throttling, correct?

It should. Never hit the temp limit on a card before. Also can't really run with out more power to the card as the fans draw more and more.
