Motherboard's Audio Chipset

ABehery

I have recently built a new PC with Asus TUF B350 Gaming Plus, and the onboard sound quality is not satisfying to me (The Iphone's output way louder and clearer than the mobo's), Is there a way to correct it and make it better? Should I get an amp? If so, could you recommend me a budget value one?

Thank you!

are you connecting to the back of the motherboard or using a case's front panel?

Option 1: update audio chipset drivers if you havent already

Option 2: you could just buy a simple 2.0 channel PCIe soundcard

DFX / FXSound is a software solution you may find acceptable, if not cheap.

https://www.fxsound.com/webapps/premium

I use it on my Laptop and Desktop to get some extra boost to my outputs.  It can effectively increase your output volume, and has nice built in equalization as well.  If you push it too far, it can become distorted, so it takes some playing around, but it is well worth it, IMO.

As a semi-audiophile I find onboard audio unbearable.  I use a USB DAC for all of my audio, specifically the Sound Blaster X7.

as a x7 user too its not as superior in sound as you think on dac side

that doesnt take much, x7 selling point is it multi abilities and sbx(which I love for many games)

i would use onboard if I could answer phone calls easily, sbx, and power passive speaker too

dac isnt the issue here dac accuracy is what to x7 accuracy?

Sound is a bit muffled but that is not the problem, the output is very weak even when I turn the volume all the way up, very noticeable difference between the iphone and the PC, specially regarding the bass.

now we narrowed down the problem onboard is failing you

you have many options

rma with great reason but will give you downtime

I'm never a fan of downtime

anything and everything will power those headphones

including my kids leapfrog crap but not the point

what comes to mind is what is your budget with the thought of your sound quality

can you try them on others setups?

i'm not a fan of making you spend cash on trial and error considering you said they work fine with  other products

887 chip is fine but onboard can be an issue in those days considering they didnt have separate ground

They worked fine on my 6 years old dell laptop, the sound is not bad, its just less powerful than my iphone which makes me mad.
