So soon I am planning to build an second-hand build, probably on summer 2018. The parts will probably look like this: Intel i5 3570, GTX 970, 16GB Ram.

Will it last until 2020 to play games on medium settings 1080p? Yes I know that no one has the exact answer, but I would love to hear your opinions.

By 2020 I will probably get Ice Lake i5, 32GB Ram and Nvidia "after Volta" GTX xx60.

LoL, I don't think 32GB of RAM will be necessary.

It'll do fine I'm sure, especially since you're thinking about medium settings at 1080p and I'm assuming 60 fps. You can always upgrade as you go. Used parts will become cheaper, especially the older stuff as companies push more cores. They'll seem more obsolete. 2 years isn't really that much time.

I'm not super familiar with the 9 series but yeah it probably would do mediums just fine for a few more years. If you want to be extra sure just get one tier higher

My previous computer lasted me almost 7 years and it was MUCH worse than the one you are describing

My laptop is older than that and it's only just starting to go bad on me(small things like the USB 2 controller and the WLAN adapter). That will last you for some time, but it will be obsolete fairly quickly. If stuff like that doesn't matter to you, it should be just fine. Maybe cut back to 16Gb of RAM though

I hope 9 or 10th gen i5's to offer 6c/12th and to ddr5 support. Well you never know, todays games already use around 12GB RAM.

Whole setup should cost me around ~$350 excluding monitor, then I will give this PC to my younger brother.

*Update:

I want a bit more advices, so here is the PC I will most likely build:

I5 3570 (Used)

GTX 970 (Used)

12GB 1333 or 1600mhz RAM (8GB stick + 4GB stick) (Used)

any 1155 mobo (Used)

1TB Hard Drive (New)

550w or 600w quality PSU (New)

Should I be worried about getting used parts?

Depends on how old they are. If they have more than 2 years of intense usage, forget about it. 1 year could still do, but I seriously recommend getting a 1060 Amp from Zotac, it really is worth budgeting for. Also, id really recommend going for a more standard RAM configuration, like 16GB of at least 1800Mhz, but 12 will do juuuuuuuust fine.

EXTRA:

If you could give me a budget, I could try and work something out for you. If not, go Scrapyard Wars style and buy used from craigslist or whatever resell yourself website is avaliable where you live. If you live in a small town, take the opportunity when you go to a large city and search for components there. There'll usually be many more and better options.

Let me tell you the prices here:

New 1060 6G - $390

New 1060 3G - $330

New 1050 Ti - $255

Used 970 - $200

Insane prices for the GPUs and thats why I consider buying a used one. I want to have no less than 3G VRAM and even If I had a choice between 1060 3G and 970, I would take 970.

My budget is around $490 if I use this parts and I really don't want to spend more. I live in the capital of my country, Georgia.
