Hi guys!

Im planning to build a PC over Christmas, as my laptop just doesnt cut it anymore.

After a lot of thinking and going from the Prodigy M to the Fractal Arc mini R2, i think i've finally settled with the Corsair 350d.

As demanded, some information:

Budget: ~1200-1400 €, Location: Germany

Aim: Mostly games and the additional "normal" usage, watching films etc but nothing heavy.

Monitor: 1

Now, i'm not entirely sure which way to go so i've come here ;) Both builds are essentially the same, with the "basic" build posted below.

My 2nd option for a Build would be a 4670k instead of a 4570, a Z87 Motherboard instead of the H87 and possibly an H100i instead of the air cooler.

My questions are:

a )  Is the power supply sufficient?

b )  Is it worth spending ~130 Euro more to get a 4670k, a Z87 Motherboard and (probably) an H100i (it does look about 42x as sexy as an air cooler).                                                                                And would the power supply be even enough   to OC the CPU + power the h100i?

c )  Do you see any problems with the build?

Thanks a bunch!

I'd like at least 650w for that rig, but 500w should work.

You're cutting kinda close on the power supply if I were you I would try and go with around 600 or 650 watts but it really depends on how far you overclock

I would go with the WD caviar green, it costs less and is more Eco friendly.

Is it just me that's really blind, or is there no GPU there :D

Other: 2048MB EVGA GeForce GTX 770 Superclocked ACX (€302.00)

Great i'll consider that, any brands you recommend that cost like <80-100 euro (or dollar)

I heard this, and while that is also important for me, I thought it would be wise to take the WD Blue for the 7200rpm.. Is there much of a noticable drop between the RPMs? (As I understood it, the WD Green doesnt have a set RPM, but should be around 5400...)

Thanks for all your answers!

PS:

CPU-wise what would you go for? Is the 4670k a clever choice incase you need that little more power in 1-2 years? or is it just a waste?

Go with AMD is the best way..... I you need more -( if you use it for gaming thing about the ps4 8 core and the xbox one 8 core both amd) ... and reply to me??

Well, thing is, i dont really see the point atm..

For a graphicscard, id then take the 280x, which is like 10-20 euro cheaper than the 770 superclocked, which is faster, and id save 30-50 euro on a cpu, which is nice, but id also lose some power..

I think ive just settled on Intel..

And the ps4/xbox One argument isnt exactly convincing, as both arent exactly "nextgen consoles" as they are advertised, theyre both just not that powerful..

It's about the ability to use more than 4 cores for gaming. As games on consoles use more cores, the result will trickle into pc gaming.

Being able to game using the 8 cores of the  8320/8350 would be quite better than the i5.

Im not dead set on red/black, but most motherboards are quite hideous, so red/black/white seemed the best option..

What about a black/grey build with blue highlights? http://de.pcpartpicker.com/p/2mhDd

Ps4 and xbox one are using 8 cores wich means that the future games will need more cores to perform correctly and with the performance of fx-8350 there will be no doubt that it will be better

8 cores are not needed and it'll still be quite a be before they are. What consoles with 8 cores means is just that 8 cores will be able to be used.

The 4670k will beat the 8350 for games that only use 4 cores or less due to faster single cores but the 8350 will pull ahead in games that can use more cores but games don't perform poorly on 4 cores just because it can use 8 cores.

i agree with you but i beleive that the fx-8350 beats the i5 and also it can beat at some point the i7..... Even that intel will release the the 8 cores proccessor and a different mobo for them...... Also as i said my opinion is to go with the amd more cores the better cause as i said above the future games will need more cores to perform

Depends on how the game is optimized.

No offense but what you believe doesn't affect performance.

Looks quite good too, ill take a look at it!
For the SSD, are you only looking at the price, or is there a real difference from Samsung to Kingston?

ok. What i beleived will be different from what you beleive. Lets come back here when the future games come out

As both of you have said, its future games.
As of right now, it looks like the i5 4670k is ahead as so much is just 4cores (or less). So unless they manage to change that dramatically in the next 2-3 years, im hoping the i5 will be fine ;)
If it changes after that, ill survive not having the best cpu out there, and will eventually have to buy a new one, but thats normal with hardware, so yeah...

The Kingston is cheaper and the difference is unnoticeable. I've had several of the v300 as well as the 840.

The nice thing about the 8320 is that it's not that far behind the 4670k atm and has room to stretch it's legs with future optimizations while being cheaper.
