Positive Air Flow?

Useless2112

I want to have 3 fans at the front as intakes and 2 at the back/top as exahusts. However, will 3 at the front and 1 at the back be fine?

I have no idea why you would want that many fans, but yes, it will be fine, as long as the case can fit them

I had 2 intake in the front, 2 intakes in the top and 1 exhaust in the back, worked great, also didn't have that much dust. But I would not recommend my config if you extension card slots / back grill are small.

So both of your configs should work :)

The number of fans means nothing. You need a stronger airflow/air pressure on the front than on the back, which can be achieved even with 1 high airflow/rpm in the front and 5 low on the back.

There's not really much to gain past 2 intake and 1 exhaust. LTT did a video on it

Watch the videos below it will clear up your concerns.  Obviously more air flow the cooler the pc but the fans have to be set properly in your bios or fan controller to achieve the correct type of air flow your after... Your exhaust fans can actually pull air in through small holes in the case causing dust infiltration if they are set to high in relation to your intake fans etc etc.

I have 2x 140mm in up front and

a 140mm and 120mm as out in back and top.

Set for positive pressure and everything stays cool and clean.

I suppose since the number of fans means nothing I could make do with one.

Well call me excessive.:P

2 in, 1 out is enough for most configs. You need more if case has bad overall airflow or you happen to have issues with components. Depending on what you are cooler, you could even go with 1 in, 1 out.

Your both options are fine.
