What graphics card GTX 1050 TI, 1070?

Yoyoshi

Hey I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card, but I'm not sure which one too upgrade too. I've looked at the GTX 1050 TI as a cheaper option, but wasn't sure whether the 1070 was worth it. My budget is around 700 max CAD. In terms of what I want play games at 60FPS at 1080p.

I think I'll need a new power supply with a better graphics card with my current power supply of only 400W.

My current computer specs are:

CPU: Intel Core i7-3770

Graphics: Sapphire Radeon HD 7850
RAM: 16 GB DDR3 SDRAM

Motherboard: GIGABYTE B75M-HD3

Power Supply: Alpha 500W Power supply

Any help is appreciated.

700 CAD can get you a 1080.  I put your parts into pcpartspicker and your 500w supply should be okay as long as it's a quality unit.

Oh i was thinking at least running at high settings at least. So I guess then I'll have to go 1060 or higher?

1060 6GB would be a nice upgrade from HD 7850. However if you can afford you should pick a 1070 (ti). With 1060 you would have to lower many settings in new demanding games and 1070 would last longer.

Get the most powerful GPU you can afford. 1070 will be best bet for 1080p at high settings

Okay thanks, I might as well get the best that i can afford now. I guess the only thing i'm concerned about is the power supply, but another has mentioned it should be okay with the 400W as long as its quality. Should i just play it safe and buy a larger power supply?

Really depends on what you play. I can play all my games at 60fps minimum with my 1050 ti

Is the 400w a good quality PSU? If it is it might be OK, just running way out of it's efficiency range. You won't have much overclocking headroom so if you can - look towards replacing it with a nice 550-650w unit.

My PC with i7 6700 + OC'd 1070 + 2 x SSDs and 1xHDD consumes about 200-270W while gaming and 280-290W when running Intel Burn Test and Furmark simultaneously. 400W PSU is enough as long as it's good quality.

That is even less than I expected and I thought I'd like to calculate my wattage for always just the minimum ^^

Thanks for the video it was quite informative. I'm not sure whether my PSU is good quality, but I think I'll just spend a a little more for a good quality one to be on the safe side.
