SLI help...

So I've got this rig:

GeForce GTX 960

Inteli5-4690k 3.5GHz

Board : MSIz97-g45 Gaming

8gigs ram and some other stuff

And I want to add a 1080 ti (as in I want to use both the 1080 and 960) but don't know how to do it. I need a list of parts and some instructions specific to my parts. Any help is appreciated!

Additional question: are there any inexpensive alternatives for the 1080 ti with comparable performance.

I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt here. 

In order to SLI GPUs they must be of the same chipset, for example 2x GTX 960.

Also, what motherboard do you have? How many PCI-E x16 slots does it have?

Something you can do is insert the GTX 1080TI and use the GTX 960 as a physics card. However in modern day that's kind of a useless practise. (In some cases hindering performance)

 

As for the alternatives to the GTX 1080TI. 

In short; No, not really AMDs competition is slightly cheaper However it requires more power and less performance.

You can only SLI the same GPUs and they must have the same amount of VRAM.

I must also add that unless you play games on a 60Hz display or very high resolution, i5 4690k wont let you utilise the 1080ti in many games to its full potential.
