1080 TI STRIX low performance problems.

Hi, i have just recently built a new pc and i have a bit of a problem. first here is the system :

7820x with no oc

32 gigs ram @ 2600

1080Ti STRIX

seasonic X 850W gold

some SS'D fans etc .

now the problem is this. i am trying to run games like SC2 on highest settings and i am getting 20[yes]-100 fps. on games like gta V on near high settings the game starts at 70-100 fps and with time drops to sometimes even 30. [ a game reboot sometimes help to reset the fps until it goes down again]

farcry 3\4 cant even run them at the lowest settings because i get 10-70 fps

and at all the games that i have tried the same problem seems to happen , the longer the game runs the lower the fps gets with time! [and again i am checking thermals and it is not a thermal problem.]

the solution i have tried so far are these.

making sure the GPU is on a 16x pcie slot.

2 power connectors from the psu to the gpu directly

updating drivers - [dont think a complete uninstall and reinstall is required because it is a brand new pc with a new HDD and windows]

the GPUruns at idle on 26-7 degrees and on load hardly reaches the low 50's [settings are all set to max power]

the CPU runs on idle at low 20's and on load reaches to low 50's

I am really desperate i would really appreciate some ideas about a fix because i really dont feel like sending the card back and wait for months..

P.S THE PERFORMANCE OF ALL THESE GAMES WERE TESTED ON A 1080P RES

thanks!

I don't really know what could be the problem here tbh, but I think it has to be the card. Sometimes they might come with a damaged/ misaligned cooler that isn't touching all components perfectly so it might thermal throttle. Which is really what it sounds like when you're saying that it gets worse on longer sessions.

What is really confusing is the low temp readings you get. Which tool are you using? does your card have more than one temp sensor?

You should probably look into returning the card.

Hi thanks for the response, i am using the original card sensor software "GPU TWEAK IT II"

but the system overall runs very cold so i dont really think its that problem.. but i do agree with you that it sounds like a card problem.

Why are you playing on 1080p with an 1080ti? Turn up the resolution to 1440p and try to play again.

Validate your driver settings and make sure you don't have anything weird running globally.

I had an issue with my RX 580, where my frame rate was plummeting and getting noticeable slowdown in games, and it turned out that Radeon Chill was on. I disabled that, and boom, no more issues.

Install MSI afterburner and see if you can run some logs while gaming and then send them to me (if you can't figure out how I can show you)

Make sure to quote me or tag me when responding to me, or I might not know you replied! Examples:

Do this:

And make sure you do it by hitting the quote button at the bottom left of my post, and not the one inside the editor!

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.
