So I have a brand new msi Radeon rx 480 8g gpu and when I installed it and updated drivers I get nothing but bsod when i try playing games or sometimes just idleing. I have tried roll backing the driver uninstalling it and even downloaded it from the maufactor website still having the same issue. My motherboard is msi z170a gaming m5 with a Intel i5-6500k 16b of ddr4 ram. I posted a few blue screens.

Here's something that I didn't know about Windows:

Driver Verifier is a tool that runs in real time to examine the behavior of drivers. For example, Driver Verifier checks the use of memory resources, such as memory pools. If it sees errors in the execution of driver code, it proactively creates an exception to allow that part of the driver code to be further scrutinized. The driver verifier manager is built into Windows and is available on all Windows PCs. To start the driver verifier manager, type Verifer at a command prompt. You can configure which drivers you would like to verify. The code that verifies drivers adds overhead as it runs, so try and verify the smallest number of drivers as possible.

It could be either gpu/cpu overheating or faulty ram. Download Memtest 86 and check your Ram for errors.

I have ran a memtest befor i had the same gpu i sent back to the company because it was doing the same thing its doing now and there was no corruption on my RAM

Does it work if you take the GPU out?

I got those BSODs when I had a faulty RAM stick not too long ago, so it may be worth trying the system with some RAM removed, it could be bad timing of RAM failure.

It does but when i play games it still bluescreens but its a Video memory error

Hey, I had the same issue.

Is your 16 GB one stick of ram? If not, try testing each stick of ram individually.

Check the warranty of the RAMs below. I got two (2) new sticks from g.skill.

https://www.kingston.com/en/company/warranty#duration

Good luck.

is it a blower style? it could be overheating

I doubt it would be overheating, unless he bought it used and it has some really crap thermal compound on it. Even then, I don't think an overheat would cause a BSOD. None of mine ever did

Usually a faulty ram stick will show errors right at the beginning of the test. Few errors are enough for you to change that piece. So you don't have to let the test go till the end, u can stop it. Same for working ram. If you see no errors at the start, let the test run for like 10 min but it's not neccessary to let it run for more really, unless there is still issues but it's rare. Just a tip for next time.
