Hey guys,

I'd like to get some new peripherals for Christmas, I currently use 3 years old Roccat Valo and Kova. Both are starting to show their age in more significant ways, so I figured out this is the time to upgrade! For the keyboard, I'm looking for MX Blue switches and red backlight, budget would be €100-120. I found only Tesoro Durandal Ultimate to meet my requirements, is that a good KB, or should I be looking at something else?

Moving on over to my new mouse, I'm looking for something with a good grip and red/RGB LED, for around €50-70. I am concerned more about the ergonomics, I'm used to claw-grip and my hand from the top of my middle finger measures around 18cm. My question is, could I tame the Steelseries Rival comfortably, or should I opt for something smaller, like the Sensei? Are there any other mices you would recommend to me?

Main use would be gaming, but I also type a lot.

Thanks.

I'm using a (relatively cheap) Gigabyte M7 Thor right now combined with a Logitech G510 (Non-mechanical) and I'm really happy with them.

For you I'd get a Corsair Raptor M40 mouse with any keyboard ( as it doesn't matter much for anything )

Altough CM Storm has affordable mech-keyboards :D

The MX Blue/Brown K70 is only available in the silver/blue combo and the closest place to get the Shine 3 for me is UK, so those are a no-go. I will look more into the Sensei.

How does the Raptor M40 compare to higher end Vengeance mices and the Steelseries mices I mentioned?

Stay away from the Steelseries Rival.

I've used mine for 3 weeks now and there is already wear on the right and left mouse buttons.

The rubber coating is gone and it feels more like plastic now. :(

Thanks for the tips, now I need to sum this up. Anybody here who had experience/owns the keyboard I want? For the mouse, I have 2 final options, Corsair Raptor M40 and Steelseries Sensei. Which one do you think is the best choice?

I would choose the M40 purely because it has superior sensor.

As for a keyboard, if you can't afford/find a Ducky 3 Shine that fits your budget/style, then I would recommend a CM Storm Quickfire board.

I personally don't like the soft rubber finish on the M40, because it wears down easily.

Our keyboard offer is pretty limited, so there is no Ducky here and no CM Storm board that would fit, that one is actually the ONLY one that has the switches and design I like. If it had some major disadvantages tough, I could hold off a while for Corsair RGB or opt for something like Browns or Reds, but that's the plan B, C and D.

A little update, I found CM Quickfire Ultimate with MX Blues/Browns and red backlight, so I'm currently set on that. Now I just need to decide on what switches to buy. I like Blues, tough I haven't tried Browns yet. Does 5g less acutation force make a real world diffirence and is the audible "click" present on Browns too?

The only audible click that you will get on a brown switch is that of when it bottoms out. Apart from that it is fairly tactile; you can feel the actuation point, but blues are a little more deliberate feeling. Overall it's your preference/choice, but my favourite out of the two is the blues.

Browns are just the most amazing switches ever IMO :P I've used blues, red and browns a lot and even though they are cool, blues ended up pissing me and everyone else off. Reds are kinda annoying to type on (although they are my daily driver, so I've got used to them) because of accidental keypresses. Browns are perfect in every way.

Feel free to message me if you want to chat!
