Try this:

Run cmd as admin

type in "sfc /scannow"  Should take a few mins to complete

type in "DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth" Should take a few mins

type in "DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth" Should take a few mins

Once done reboot your pc and try playing something again

maybe run a virus/malware scan too, this sounds fishy.

Im not sure on it being a virus as there are lots of threads about this topic

Just seems like one of those things that could happen at any point

I had this problem before.

It was a faulty GPU.

At first it would block an app or two, after a while it blocked everything.

I RMA'ed the GPU and since then all has been good.

It's not a race to the bottom.

Personally I don't know what it means but how new is the card?

See if the warranty is still active and if so try return it for a new one
