Building a mechanical keyboard?

I've seen some videos about building mechanical keyboards, and i thought it would be fun to build one. Im not really into it so i'd like to know if it is worth it. How much would it cost me (more or less, dont need a DIY K95 xD)?

They can range. I have a couple boards that are in the $250 to $350 range. But I know I could also put one together for under $100.  Some people go bals to the wall and easily drop over $500 on a keyboard. Hell there keycap sets out there that are almost $300 by them selves.

Here's a quick an easy budget build:

Kit: PCB, Plate, Switches, Stabalizers, LEDs
Case

Keycaps

The only thing you'll need is a soldering iron and solder.

Think of it like this:

We build our computers with exactly what we want for components

This is exactly the same when it comes to keyboards

Research on the following websites will give a better understanding of just how many options there are for custom keyboards.

Geekhack.com

Deskthority.net

Topclack.com

Though be forewarned this hobby can be expensive as it mostly consists of small batch custom manufacturing.

I have a cue light I can use to show you when I’m joking, if you like.
