Help with fuzzy green screen

5FP8XOa.jpg

So i was just browsing the internet/listening to music and my computer did this... (Not my picture, but the same thing happened).

It stayed like it for about 30 seconds, stopped my music and then returned to normal? I was just wondering if this is something i should be worried about? There was also a small fuzzy white box that would move around every 10 seconds or so..

Any help is appreciated.

Unplug your monitor, and then wait for like 10 seconds, and then plug it back in...

I hope you won't get the same green screen again...

Hope i Helped!

Best Regards!

I guess you're haunted by a cyber ghost then. RIP
Jk, if  your monitor is plugged into the GPU, switch to the integrated GPU and see if that solves it.

Yeah but i can't leave it there? I wanna be able to play games without this issue happening all of the time?

It might be a problem with your hardware (I targeted the GPU). If switching to onboard graphics doesn't fix the problem, then the GPU is fine. If it does, then I'm pretty sure it's the GPU.
On the other hand, it might be a problem with your monitor. Don't know what I would suggest to do in that case because I reckon you don't have a spare monitor to test your system out on.

Have you scanned for viruses? If not please do and let us know if your computer is infected.

EDIT: Oh, by the way, how long do you have the system? Did it work fine for a period of time, or was it always like this?

Start scanning for viruses before you do, it might not be a hardware problem, but I doubt it. I recommend malwarebytes.
EDIT: Oh yeah, you could try to DDU the drivers in safe mode as @Tosa suggested.

It could be a driver issue. Try updating or rolling back the graphics driver. Updating the chipset(motherboard) driver might help too.

DDU is an driver uninstaller utility. What graphics card do you have? Have you noticed if the fan is running at all on the card? Do you monitor your system temps?

It’s a Palit gtx 1060 6gb StormX, system temps are usually 70-80 underload, although when the screen went weird the physical pc felt much hotter than normal, but the system froze and I couldn’t monitor the temps

Hmm.... 70-80 seems fairly warm... was the graphics card fan on at all?

@Tosa @just tilt @NinJake @DodoDodo123

Just to update you all, The graphics card has completely gone, RIP. I've managed to swangle a new Strix 1060 from the PCSpecialist which should be coming in the next week or so. So i guess ill just have to have a bit of fun and see what i can play on the Intel HD 630 Integrated gpu in my mother board... FUUUN. Either way, id like to thank you all for your help and hopefully the problem won't return. I'm also hoping to have a lot lower heat on the new card as of course its ASUS' 3 fan design gpu whereas this Palit one only had 1 crappy fan and what im not even sure that i would call a heatsink...

Thanks again.

Jacob

You're very welcome. Some of the games I'm playing on my integrated GPU as I'm waiting for my RX 580 are Krai Mira, Unturned, Escapist 2, Grim Dawn, and multiple old versions of Need for Speed (Carbon, Most Wanted, Shift).

Glad I could be of help, best of wishes!

I might have to check out a couple of them, I wish Shotgun Farmers had a larger fan base as its playable on integrated graphics... There just is not enough people playing the game :(
