AIO cooling: Which end should the hoses be on?

Something i've been wondering, when you have an AIO cooler,  and its mounted vertically, which end should the hoses be on, or does it matter? Reason i'm asking is i know there is tiny amounts of air in all AIOs, and i'm not sure if its enough to make pumps run semi-dry. My AIO is currently mounted vertically with the hoses at the top of the radiator. My pump whining a lot now, i think thats more because its a crappy pump to begin with. Getting a new cooler next week but im curious as to the hose orientation.
