i7 Question

Thinking of upgrading my rig to an i7-7700k from an i5-6400. What would be better a push pull cooler or a liquid aio cooler?

Go with a Ryzen 1600 or 1700 instead. Way better for the money. Plus the motherboards are cheaper.

Except that going from 6000 to 7000 you don't need to replace the motherboard.

I was looking at spending maybe $200 (can) on a cooler. Also if i went ryzen if have to change my MO

Don´t do it. Your build is far form obsolete. If I´d were you, I would wait for Intel´s 9th Gen (Cannon Lake, which is both a new process and a new architecture) or Zen 3 (completely new architecture) (coming in late 2018 for the first and early 2019 for the latter). Intel´s 9th Gen will have most likely 8C/16T on the i7 9700K and Ryzen will get probably by then (since Zen 2 is just an optimizaion) have 1+ GHz in boost speed, a 7/10nm process and a brand new architecture. Not to mention 40-50% increase on IPC. Save for 2 years and make yourself a kick ass-tic Build by then (i7 9700K/R7 3800X + 32GB of DDR 4 (maybe DDR 5 by then) and a kick ass Navi/Ampere GPU)
