So i know, this question is kinda dumb but i put in my CPU (i7 6800k) the wrong was, noticed it and swapped it round. After completing the mainetenance, I went on and tried to boot up my system but got boot error and a red CPU Q-LED. So I opened my socket, examined my CPU and noticed that one corner was kinda... snipped. Im just asking for help i know i should have noticed earlier and will propably have to buy a new Processor and maybe a new MoBo

oh, that looks bad... if none of the traces were damaged, it should still be ok, but the problem is there isn't really a way to confirm that.  The PCB is layered and would contain many traces through that area in all likelihood.

Also, waht would be the best method, since its fairly ridgid

eh...there isn't really a good method per se but I would use some sort of flat object to try and flatten it out.

I misread titles/posts way too often--correct me if I don't.

I'm just curious but aren't those things (cpu's) keyed and only fit in one way?  If so, how did you get it in without forcing it?  Could be that is why the corner is bent the way it is.  Like said above, put it on a flat surface and try using very light pressure to try and get it back in to the original shape.

But to be honest, I think it's toast.

Well it kinda fits in the wrong way. And LGA, especially X99 requieres quite a lot of „force“ to get the CPU installed. Also it always cracks a little, so you cant hear if everything is goin fine or if you are currently killing your Processor. Honestly, LGA is kinda shit

Ah, another good reason for me to stick with AMD.  I'm currently running an AMD FX8370 at 4.335.  I have a crappy cooler so got to wait for a few more dollars before I can upgrade.  And I don't know what to upgrade to yet.  Current cooler is an Arctic 7.

never say stick with amd and a fx8370 in the same sentence ever again

I have never had any problems with any of my AMD chips.  I don't have any problems with my FX8370 either.  It runs fine.  Obviously you are a die hard Intel user.
