Hi all from the UK, first time posting so please go easy.

I have been having some issues as of late.

I used to be on the bleeding edge of PC hardware when 1920 x 1080 resolution was the best thing out there.

My current system build is

Intel Core i7 5930k

Asus Rampage 5 extreme

16gb DRR4 Ram

GTX780s in SLI

The last thing i bought to "upgrade" the PC was an Intel 750NVME PCI-E SSD.

Recently i purchased an Asus 34" G-Sync monitor which has a resolution of 3440 x 1440, this going up from a Dell 23" monitor with a resolution of 1920 x 1080.

Before this monitor switch i was able to play The Witcher 3 with maxed out settings at 60 FPS, now this has dropped to around 45 to 50 if i reigned in the settings.

I recently tried to play Wolfstein: The New Colossus and even at low setting with G-Sync switched on i sometimes only get 20 FPS.

So simple TL:DR, are the GTX 780s in SLI with G-Sync on now not cutting the mustard?

Well, you will be better off getting a 1080 (or even 1080ti if you want to go hard) to play on this monster of a monitor.

I always go HARD ;p

Looks like i need to start saving up for a GTX 1080Ti, been eyeing up the EVGA FTW Hydrocopper card for months now, but soo expensive at £887 each, and of course ill be getting them in SLI which means it will cost £1774 or $3016 Canadian or $2353 USD.

By the time i finish saving for them the GTX 2080 or whatever will be out

Maybe it's because the GTX 780 is only 3GB of vRAM and you need more to run at a higher resolution. I think even if they are in SLI that won't make much difference since the both have effectively 3GB of total vRAM to play with.

Just like TAJA said, upgrading to a single card that can handle those resolutions will be much better. You even eliminate the SLI problems that may come with a 2 card setup.

In my opinion even a GTX 1070 can even run you games at that resolution  (Not sure if everything at MAX though).

Honestly one 1080ti should be plenty for that monitor... I know you want to be bleeding edge but with one you'll max everything at a high FPS and you'll get better performance if you upgrade to a single xx80ti card every generation instead of going SLI and bankrupting yourself

That's an F in the profile pic

BEFORE YOU UPGRADE
I also have a 780, and also had issues with wolfenstein, but this was on my 2560X1080 monitor. The issue may not be your GPU but your drivers. there seems to be some corruption issues with the latest nvidia drivers. Run DDU to fully uninstall your nvidia drivers then roll back to 388.13. This worked for me, and now I can play ultrawide on a single 780. I feel like limited VRAM wouldn't cause low frames but would cause crashes. you can try using msi afterburner to track your VRAM usage in game and let us know where it sits.

Prolly a game issue. I still use my keplers cards without issues on 1440. But That's bf4, bf1, bfh, pubg and cod ww2. Runs flawless on bf games on ultra. If you have the money get a 1080ti. Helps for the games that don't run so well.
