Hey there,

Just wondering if you could take a look at my PC built and give me some suggestions. My budget is around $1000 CAD ($800 USD). I'm only doing some light gaming and on this PC and hope to have to last until 2020 or maybe even longer.

Thanks!

Ryzen CPUs are good options to those looking to spend less.

I only chose this 1050ti because it's a dual fan card so it looks better through the glass panels on the case. Otherwise single fan cards (which can handle the heat well) can save $25 budget.

Looks good! I'll consider some of the parts. Although, would the Ryzen CPU be more or just as "future proof" as the i3-8350k?

I'm not keen on the mobo, preferably I'd go with the asrock ab350m pro 4 instead, but to get the price down I had to compromise. You could swap the 1060 for a 1050ti, but if you want it to last longer the 1060 would be better IMO.

What's up with the PSU not being on the parts for budget, do you already have that one?

There's a massive sale on PSUs at the place I'm getting it, so I decided I might as well get a nice one for the price of a budget one. Just a thought on Ryzen. AMD hasn't exactly had a great history with their more current gen CPUs so I'm not exactly sure what to do. Other than small differences between Intel and Ryzen (and the massive core count difference), is there any REAL compromise if I get Ryzen over Intel?

Yes. AMD will keep compatibility of new CPUs to current mobo to 2020.

Otherwise you could wait till next year when B360 and H310 mobos for Intel 8th gen CPUs. At this moment, Ryzen is still a better deal. Intel has been keeping compatibility for 2 generations of CPU, so expect 9th gen to use the same mobo.
