PC underperforming or need upgrade?

My PC seems to be underperforming lately after I upgraded to Windows 10 Pro. I used to run Overwatch on high settings with 80-90fps, but now I'm running on med-low with 55fps. Any advice or information on my decreased gaming performance is welcomed! Thanks

You definitely need an upgrade. 2 cores is no viable anymore. With newer titles coming out, 4 cores will be the minimum requirements.

I very much disagree, the system they have running now should be fine for a while. Especially if they mostly play games like overwatch. that cpu has 4 threads which helps a lot. Yes they'll need an upgrade sometime but not today, that probably isn't the cause of their problem.

I've got an i5 4690 and I struggle to play GTA 5, Witcher 3 and even the CoD.

You have 4 cores 4 threads, also you have a HD 7950, which is comparable to a 1050ti, I would upgrade your graphics card, and you'll see the light. Games hardly task your CPU, while yes, having 4 cores is nice, it is not a MUST for casual gaming.

Your benchmark for your SSD is low is it near capacity or connected to a sata 2 port (the blue ones)?

I would say it is. When i play PUBG it uses all 12 threads quite evenly. I feel that you need to upgrade your cpu to something like an i5 8400 or 7500 if you can afford it or a ryzen 5 or 3 depending on your price range. Then see what the difference is. You could upgrade your gpu to something like an rx 480/580 or gtx 1060.

Just to note, it says in your pc test:

High background CPU (29%). High background CPU reduces benchmark accuracy. Find active processes with Windows task manager (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC)."

Looks like you got some stuff that you don't need running. Your cpu should be idle when just on the desktop. Could do a windows reinstall.

Yes it is nice, and some game devs are good enough to spread the load throughout all your cores/threads. but as I said for 'Casual' gaming 2 cores 4 threads is okay, depending on your Graphics Card. Besides you ALL haven't read his Original Post well enough. he said he upgraded to windows 10 and suddenly low fps. so all of you screaming "upgrade upgrade upgrade!" are simply over reacting.

I'll try to downgrade tomorrow or plug my gpu in another computer with the same processor and see how overwatch runs.

I re-ran userbench to get more accurate results, but there doesn't seem to be much improvement.

your SSD is maxed at 300 mbs, which is Sata II speeds, so I would say you have it plugged into the wrong port or something.it should be at least 500. And yes my first suggestion is to try and put your gpu in a windows 7 machine. It isn't that windows 10 isn't bad for gaming in general, it's just that it has a lot of issues with background processes and what have you.
