Why does my freesync supported monitor not supporting freesync?

Mattco

I have a Asus VG245H monitor that is on the freesync support list but in Radeon Settings it says not supported?Capture15.PNG.2190f156811923c00d021d53d5f06c3e.PNG

Try connecting to the other hdmi port on the monitor? It's possible only one port supports it.

Also, based on the details here, it looks like you need to be outputting from the DisplayPort connection on your gpu? Can anyone clarify? If that's the case, you'd need a displayport to hdmi cable to enable it.

Edit: I looked again and although the info in the faq talks about DisplayPort ActiveSync (2015 era freesync) apparently it now works natively over hdmi, which makes sense when monitors only have hdmi ports on them claim to support freesync.

I have no idea if the freesync over hdmi change was enabled in hardware or only in software though. I have a freesync monitor but an NVidia GPU, so I unfortunately can't test it.

That is an idea, and this is one of the few monitors that has freesync through hdmi.

You might have to go into your monitors OSD an enable it first.

I will have to remember that in future @RKRiley. "Turn it on", an option I had never considered xD

I had a quick look there, and maybe it's because I'm using an NVidia card, but I don't even have a freesync option in my monitors OSD.

Some have the option in the osd to turn it on/off, others it's just permanently turned on.

Think mine have an option in the osd for it.
