OK, so 3 months ago i spent all the money i had earned over the summer to buy my new laptop. After a lot of hard decision making, I opted for the MSI GL62M 7RD, with a core i5 7300HQ, a 1050, and a 1TiB 5400rpm ssd. I am planning on installing optane some time when i have enough money as well. Recently though, my brilliant laptop's keyboard has been having some issues. The R, C and BACKSPACE buttons are all acting up. The problem with them is that sometimes they dont respond, but when i hit them harder a few times they do. Thinking it was some dust, i took my air compressor and blew under the keys... no luck. Yesterday i sent a message to MSI about it, but i haven't heard back, and honestly i don't expect i will from the feedback on customer support. Appart from this issue, the laptop works great, but having to cart around a keyboard as well just to use the damn thing is getting on my nerves. Is there an easy fix for this?

I am the owner of an MSI GS73VR Stealth. Had the occasional keyboard issue as well. I was able to resolve it with driver updates... So, (and MSI will ask you to do it first), is to reinstall the keyboard drivers from their website. Do that. Updated Steel Series drivers resolved my issues.

Where do i find the keyboard drivers? this was my thought first and i tried to find them, but they were nowhere to be found on MSI's site

Well, i have tried contacting MSI to try to get it sorted, but from what i have heared, an RMA could take 6-8 weeks, too long :-( I need this thing for school man!

Their RMA "can" take that long. I had my iGPU shit the bed a month before finals. I express shipped them my laptop, I had it back within 7 days. They swapped out the MB and shipped it back to me overnight. I was very happy with that. Used my wife's Spectre until I got my laptop back. Their RMA is in California (if you live in USA), so you aren't talking to someone in India or anything like that. They are very friendly to talk to. So be upfront and honest with they. They can be very accommodating if you ask.

I live in the UK... from what i have heard, their USA center is good, but the UK one is far from that... I will RMA though if drivers dont fix it, or if MSI have some other idea. I might be stuck with my old laptop for a few weeks, Jeez, i thought i had left my 11 inch n450 based netbook days far behind me...

Um.. Mozilla and Edge are both telling me their server is down. The site is sort of working. Maybe they are doing an update or something. Is the site working for you?

Do you have Steel Series keyboard?

Ok, awesome. So if you open op the Steel Series Engine # (I have 3), you should be able to click the horn icon and it'll tell you if it's updated or not. If not, then just run the updates. Or you can uninstall the engine and reinstall. Updating helped me, but if something is corrupt that an update may not replace, you can always uninstall and reinstall the engine straight from Steel Series.

Also optane will work with this laptop right? It has a free m.2 slot, and it has a supported chipset, but will it work?

Optane should.... I'm assuming a regular m.2 is out of the budget? I think Optane should be plug and play. I haven't followed it much because I haven't needed it.

Yeah, a regular m.2 is out of the budget. I have installed the engine thing, and it still wont work properly...
