id probably go for this rather, the storage and the cooler are easy to upgrade later. out of your two choices though probably the 7700K

This is for games only. Would you reccomend i7 7700k (Max OC to 5GHz) with a 212 Hyper Evo which is about £50 more expensive than a i7 7700 (Max 3.6GHz). The budget is as to close as £1000 if possible.

With the rest of this system.

I would say 8th gen. Even the i5-8400 is better than i7-7700k. Also you need a much better cooler than that to hold that OC.

i wouldn't go for kaby lake at this point. coffee lake is a far more sensible offer. it sucks that the availability isn't there but it's just better in every way spending the exact same amount of money on kaby lake is going to be very regretable.

Yes go for the newest offering, the 8th gen. K series with a decent cooler and OC it. Done.

Probably gaming or helping technophobes with tech...

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

#2. It's best to keep your mouth shut; and appear to be stupid, rather than open it and remove all doubt.

#3. There is nothing "wrong" with being wrong. Learning from a mistake can be more valuable than not making one in the first place.
