Windows10 on usb

Go to solution Solved by Enderman,

https://www.howtogeek.com/224342/how-to-clean-install-windows-10/

You need english, 64 bit, home.

You don't need to delete anything off your USB, it will wipe it for you, but yeah you should do a quick format just to be sure.

4GB or bigger.

Hi, where can i find the windows10 download for USB? also how do i know which bit i need? i will use ryzen 3 1200 on msi b350m gaming pro, i assume thats 64 bit but im not sure. also do i need to delete everything off my usb before putting it onto the usb, and how much GB is enough?

Microsoft provides a download via a tool at

https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10

You will need about 3 GB of USB  drive space for the installation so i would recommend at least 4GB.

You will also need to save anything on that USB drive to another drive because windows will need to format that USB flash to its NTFS standard

That's look correct for me, only one way to find out

i will redo it just to be sure, so rightclick on the drive. then format, then i get different types of things to choose from. capacity is 32g, then i get to choose from ntfs, fat32 and exfat, i pick ntfs. then it i need to choose clustersize. gives loads of options. from 512 bytes upto 64kilobytes. and last option is fastformat. i ticked fast format. is that correct or do i need to change something?

You don't need to format it yourself, the tool handles all of this for you. But if you do for some reason want to format it yourself run everything default besides the format being NTFS

Yes that is right, without a graphics card you will not get any signal. Most mobos will hang up on "VGA" during post when there is no GPU/iGPU

my gpu will come 2weeks later, so i have to wait, but just powering it on and seeing if the fans work wont damage it right? also i cant afford a w10 key right now, but if i put it on i can still use it, just with a watermark, but are there any restrictions? i can still download chrome and things from chrome right?

Yes it will still work without a Windows key, you just won't be able to update and you will get the occasional message. Oh you also won't be able to change your desktop background. You can get windows keys for $10-30 @ bonanza or kinguin.

And no, it won't hurt it to see if it will power the fans, it just won't make it out of post

I've never had one deactivate, and I've gone through hundreds and hundreds of them as I build a lot of systems for my work. In my experience, the ones that don't work, don't work right away and the ones that work, stay working. That's not to say it's not possible or hasn't happened, but not likely. The keys n those sites generally aren't stolen, but sold out of bulk licenses outside of Microsoft's TOS . Kinguin offers a guarantee for a couple bucks more as well.

I'm not sure about changing the wallpaper with a third party system. It's not too often that I run a system without a key, as they are pretty cheap an I can't exactly delivery a system without a valid OS, or I probably wouldn't have happy customers lol.
