My next stage of my computer room is making a large ups running off solar. I'm going to build a NAS and mining rig.

Due to power requirements of mining I'd like to find a way to shut the mining rig down automatically when the ups is running low. Does anyone know a way of doing it?

I was thinking something to read the voltage and just hold the power button on when it's too low. I'm just a little worried about how this might affect hardware and software.

Thanks

If you're using an off-the-shelf UPS, it might come with software that can be installed on the computer that can be used to shut it down once the battery within the unit hits a certain point.

Even UPS's from 10 years ago had software.  A lot of them actually used the same PMBUS communication addresses to talk with software making them open-source for custom programs.

It would have to be a real piece of shit to not even have a USB or serial port for communication.
