Closed back headset / headphone + mic

A friend of mine is going to get a headset, willing to spend up to ~2000 NOK. I asked him, seems like he prefers closed back, but I'd like to have a few open back options as well. He said he wants it to be wired, I'm assuming because of sound quality. Yes microphone is necessary. I know it will be used for gaming, and I'm going to ask him about what else he'll use it for (at some point). Probably includes instrumental music from different genres.

Which closed back headphone? Aren't the G4me Zero and AG1x closed back headphones with a mic strapped on?

No way to get the 598 closed back, unfortunately.

No way to get the 598 closed back, unfortunately. 

 

I was thinking about standalone headphones and then a mod mic so if it ever breaks you can just swap the mic over.

The thing I worry about with the M50X is the sound stage. 

The K7XX is over budget (after tax, before shipping and mic).

No M50Xs are terrible headphones. There are way better options. Try some SHP9500s, Or HD559s

The SHP9500 isn't available, but the HD 559 is, and it's within the budget. Thanks.

Do you know of any closed back ones? In case he doesn't want open back ones.

Try the M40Xs, those are pretty good, or the CB-1s

Vmoda mic and add any headphone with detachable cable. Status audio cb-1 or qb-1 are good choices and the whole setup is cheap. I use a modded pair of Hyperx Clouds for closed and a pair of Philips SHP9500S for open. Nice thing about any of the headphones you get with this option is you can easily add Bluetooth later.

Ok. How would they be compared to the G4me Zero or AG1x? Those are based on some decent headphones, afaik

Thanks, will take into consideration. Nothing from Status Audio is available in Norwegian web stores.
